Abstract：ByfocusingonthemakeupofancientChinesewomen，whetheritbethelightrougeapplicationoftheTangDynastyorthe elegantmakeupoftheSongDyastythechangesandevolutionofmakeupstylesindiferentperiodsarecoselylinkedtothesocialand culturalcontextofthetie，andcontaintragiccootations：（1）theommonaestheticpreferenceforlow-vitalitymakeup;（2）gender diferenesandidentityconstructioninmakeup;（3）temonolizationofmakeupbyowe，revealingsocialclassdiferences.Acient women’smakeuppractces werenot merelyaestheticpursuits；theyeflectedsociety’strictdemandsonwomen’sappearanceandeed as symbols of their roles， highlighting significant inequalities.
