Exploration of Large-unit Teaching Strategies in High School English from the Perspective of Core Competencies

Abstract Under the perspective ofcore literacy,large unit teaching focuses on enhancing students' comprehensive language abilities and core literacy through theme driven and task driven approaches.The article proposes design principles for large unit teaching based on holistic learning theory,constructivist theory,and interdisciplinary integration theory, including goal positioning guided by core competencies,selection of theme significance and authenticity tasks,overalldesign,and hierarchical promotion. At the same time,the article explores theme oriented teachingdesign,task driven clasroomactivities,interdisciplinary integration,and multimodal teaching,emphasizing the combination of language knowledge,cultural awareness,and practical abilities to efectivelyimprove the quality of high school English teaching and students' comprehensive literacy.
