Practice and Exploration of the Undergraduate Academic Tutorial System in Emerging Engineering Education

A case study of the computer major

AbstractThe undergraduate mentor system is one of the measures to improve the quality of undergraduate talent training.However,due to the influence ofobjective factors,the implementationofthe undergraduate mentor system is facing the dificulties inensuring the qualityof implementation.Inorder to respondto therequirements of establishing and improving academic mentors, the need of vigorously promoting the construction of emerging engineering education,this paper studythe cases ofundergraduate students majoring in computer scienceby using the theory of total quality management,summarize the implementation process of the undergraduate academic mentor system,and analyzethe achievements and challnges.It shows that the freshmen have made significant progressin study evaluation,ability training,academic gudance,and other aspects after implementing thissystem.Meanwhile,thereare problems such as weak positive datasupporting for guidanceefect, inconsistent implementationof guidance,and lack of an effective regulatory system. We also explore the improvement direction of the academic mentor system.
