Abstract：Asacriticalcomponentof China'sengineeringeducation，thecivilengineringdisciplineplaysapivotalrolein thenation'sinfrastructuredevelopmentandtechnologicaladvancement.Withtheincreaseintheumberofcollgeentranceexam participants，theoverallenrollentscaleofuniversitiesacrossthecountryhascontiuedtoexpand.Howeverenrollmentinivil engineering programshasnotkeptpace，andsomeinstitutionsareevenseingadeclineinthenumberofgraduates. Aditionall，anincreasingnumberofcivilengineeringstudentsareoptingtochangemajors，withhighratesofstudents trasferringoutofthediscipline.Thispaperconductsanin-depthanalysisoftrendsingraduatenumbersandmajortransfer ratesacross2OuniversitiesinChinaandtheUnitedStates，comparativeanalysisofthebasictrendsinthecultivationofcivil engineeringprofessonalsbetweenChinaandtheUnitedStates，thoroughlyexaminingthechallngesfacingcivilengineringtalent cultivation. It also offers targeted recommendations to address existing these challenges.
