Abstract:Themonosaccharidecompositionofpolysaccharidesfromfourdiferentparts(oldstem,youngstem,oldleaf,andyoung leaf)of Erythropalumscandens Bl.wasdeterminedusing pre-columnderivatizationhigh-performance liquidchromatogaphy(HPLC). Their antioxidant properties were comprehensively evaluated by assesing the scavenging capacities against DPPH ⋅⋅ ,ABTS ,and superoxideanionradical(O·),aswellasteferrcionreducingantioxidantpower(FRAP)assa,toscreenforhighlyctivepolysaccharide components.TheresultsshowedthatErythropalumscandenspolysaccarides were primarilycomposedof ten monosaccharides:Namelymase,lucosamine,ibse,amose,glucuroniccid,galacturoniccid,glucose,galactose,yloedbi nose.Xylosewasnotdetectedintheyoungstempolysaccharides,utwaspresentinteoldstem,oldleaf,andyoungleafpolsachrides.The total sugar contentfollowed the order of old stem > young stem > young leaf > old leaf.The in vitro antioxidant assays indicated that polysaccharides from allparts exhibited scavenging activity against DPPH·,ABTS +⋅ ,and 02- ·,as well as ferric ion reducing power.Among them,theold stem polysaccharide demonstratedsuperiorantioxidantactivitycompared to theotherparts.
