Chemical and Ecological Responses of Critical Soil Elements under Acidification Stress

Abstract:Soilacidificationwasposingasignificantthreat toagriculturalproductionndcologicalbalanceinChina.InHubeiProince,duetotheinfluenceoftopography,climate,andumanactivities,thesoil’scapacitytoholdnutrientsandconverteminto absorbableformshasbenweakened,consequentlyafectingropyieldsandqualityToinvestigatethebiochemicalimpactsofsoil acidficationonagriculturallandandcrops,thesoilpHacrossvariousregionsofHubeiProvincefrom2O21to2023wasmonitored. Theresultsrevealedthatthesouthwesternandsouthernregionsexperiencedthemostsevereacidification,whilethenorthwestene gionexhibitedthefastestacidificationrate.Tworepresentativeareas wereselectedforsystematicanalysisofsixkeyindicators: pH , cationexchangecapacity,total exchangeablebases,totalphosphorus,totalaluminum,andavailablephosphorus.Theexperiments demonstratedthatsoilacidificationrestrictedtheexchangeabilityofbasecations,eadingtosoilcompactionandmpoverishentimultaneously,inbitedtetransformationofphosphorusintoavailablefors,esultinginlowutrintuseeficiency.Ifleftuco troled,thisouldpushtelndintoaviouscleof“acidiicatioeducdyiedcreasderiliaplationfurtrcidii tion".
