The impact of the“Belt and Road"on rural revitalization under the background of opening-up

Abstract:The“BeltandRoad”initiativewasselectedasacaseofopeninguppracticetoexplore theinteractionbetweenitandthe strategyofruralrevitalization.Using theprovincialpaneldatafrom2O1Oto2O21,thePSM-DIDmethodwasadoptedtoempirically identifytheimpactofthe“BeltandRoad”ontheeconomicdevelopment,povertyreductionefectivenessandruralresidents’come of the regionsalongtheroute.Theresultsshowedthatthe“Beltand Road”led toeconomic growthand increasedfarmers’incomein theregiosalongtheroute,reducedthepovertyrate,andhadasignificantpositivedrivingefectonruralrevitalization.Teffect graduallystrengthenedovertie.Fromtheperspectiveofregionaldiferencs,the“BeltandRoad”initiativeplayedamorsgnificant roleinthewesternregionthaninthecoastalregin,especiallythedrivingpovertyaleviationinminorityareas.Inadditionitwas foundthatheopeningofteChina-Europetraincouldpromotetheeconomicgrowthoftheregionsalong theroute,buttheefectfincreasing farmers’incomehadregionalheterogeneityandwasnotsignificantinsomeareas.Basedonthe“Five-ProngedApproach" modelitwasfurtherfoundthattetransmissonpathofte“BeltandRoad”inpromotingruralrevitalizationwasmainlyrealized throughindustrialoptimizationandimprovingthelevelofforeigntrade,whiletheroleoffinancialsupportandpolicyresposepaths wasrelativelyak.Finally,policysuggestiosfortheefectiveconnectionbetweenthe“BeltandRoad”Initiativeandthestrategyof rural revitalization were put forward.
