Abstract：Theforageindustryisanimportantfoundationforthedevelopmentof herbivorousanimal husbandry.It isof great significancefor ensuring the supplyof livestock products such as dairy products，bef and muton in China and optimizing thedietary structureof urbanandruralresidents.Thisarticleanalyzes thecurent situationandadvantagesof theforage industrydevelopment in Gansu Province，and in combinationwith itslowlevelof production mechanization， unbalanced developmentof each link，lowdegreeof industrialization，and productionrealitythataffects thedevelopment ofthe forage industry，pointsoutthatatpresent，thedegreeoffull-processmechanization inthe hillyand mountainous areasofGansuProvinceislow，especiallythedificultyinachievingmechanizationinalfalfaharvestingandsilage harvesting.Optimizethefullprocessmechanizationmodelforforage，andselecttheHexi Irigation Districtandthearid areasof Longdong，which bestrepresent the topographic features of forage planting regions in Gansu Province.Focus on keymachineryforforageproduction mechanization，suchasself-propelledalfalfa harvestingequipmentforhillyand mountainous areas，self-propeled silage combinedharvesting equipmentfor hillyand mountainous areas，and smll-scale foragecutting，drying，flateningand blending machines forhillyand mountainousareas.Putforwardsuggestions suchas optimizing thepower system，technological integrationand innovation，andenhancing fieldperformance，toboost the mechanization process of the forage industryand promote the standardizationand industrializationof the forage industry.
