Abstract:Withtheincreasing demandforrailwaytransportation,smallhydraulic tamping machines have becomean importantsupplementtolarge-scaletampingequipmentduetotheiradvantagesofsmallsize,strongmobilityandlowcost. However,systematicresearchontheirtampingparametersisstillinsuficient.Inthispaper,thetrack lfting heightandtamping timesareusedasindependentvariables,andthelateralresistanceandcompactioncharacteristicsofthetrackbedareusedas dependentvariables.Basedonfieldtestsanddiscreteelement simulations,thispaperanalyzesthemechanismoftheactionofa smallhydraulictamping machineonthestabityofthetrackbedduring tamping.Theresultsshowedthat:Boththetracklifting heightandthenumberoftampingtimeshaveacertaininfluenceonthelateralresistanceandcompactnessofthetrackbed; whenthetrackliftingheightincreases,thelateralresistanceofthetrackbedwillcontinuetodecrease,andthedeclinetrend willbecomeslowerafter3Omm;whenthenumberoftampingtimesincreases,thelateralresistanceofthetrack bedwill increasefirstandthendecrease,andwillreachapeakduringthreetimesoftamping;Basedontheevaluationof trackbed tightnessandlateralresistance,itisrecommendedtouseatrack liftingheightof2Ommforsmallhydraulictampingmachines and implement 2~3 times of tamping to optimize the maintenance effect of ballast bed.
