Abstract:TheTurnoftheScrewisoneofHenryJames'classc novels.Thispaperinterprets theprofoundthemesofthis Gothic masterpiecethrough Professor Shen Dan’s "dualnarative procss"theoryfrom Peking University.Thestudyrevealsthatwhilethe overtnarrativedpictsgovesatlinggots toprotctiontcdenaqutesstialGotictaleeundelingaie weavestogethrpsyhologicalfsures,sbliclassmarkrs,andmentaldistortios toostrctadeprarratieofpyolgical represionandsocialdiscipline.Byanalyzing teonstructionandcollpseoftegoverssnarrativeathoritythesenceof ghosts as psychologicalprojections,andtheVictorian-eraclassandmoralnormsdrivingthesedynamics,thepaperultimateldeostrates thatthetruehororinJames‘workstemsnotfromsupernaturalentities,butfromthelife-eroding"screw"formedbytheinterplayof inner psychological obsession and external social discipline.
