An Analysis of the Impact of Militarism on Youth During the Weimar Republic

Abstract:Intheearlyperiodof theWeimarRepublic(1918—1923)，youthwereplunged intovengefulnessand govermentaldistrust duetothention’sumiliaingdefeatteoppressveTreatyofVersaillsandeonomicclpse.Duringtheid-period(921928)， atransienteconomicrecoveryconcidedwithanemployentcrisis.Americanculturalifilrationledtoscapism，andpolialpathy grew.Inthelate WeimarRepublic（929—1933)，theGreatDepressiontrigeredmasiveunemploymentInthisdespair，theNazis plaguedteyouththroughorganizationsliketheHitlerYouthmodernpropagandatechniques，andracistideologies.Traumatizedbydefeat andfacingeconomichardship，culturalshock，andNaziincitement，theyouthbecamecoreNazisupporters，facilitatingthmriseto power.
