A Comparison of Undergraduate Training Programs Between Chinese and German Applied Universities
—ACase Study of Industrial Design Majors Zhang Xinyuan

Abstract:Bycomparingundergraduate trainingprogramsforindustrialdesigbetween ChineseandGermanapplieduniversitisacross fouraspects:talent-cultivationgoals,coursestructures,teaching methods,andassssentappoaces,thispaperfindsthatGeran programsemphasize“inovation-driven”learingwithcorecourses,interdiscipinarycolaboration,real-projecttraining,anddiverse assessmentsfocusingonpractic.Incontrast,Chineseprogramshiglight“technicalaplication”,dominatedbytheoreticalrequired courses.Theirpracticalcompoentsfeatureliitedindustrycolaboration,relyontraditionallectures,andusesinglesubjectnt basedonexamsandasigentsAcoringlyitisproposedthatChinseapliedundergauateidustrialdesigneducationatainits engineringeducationstrengthswhiledrawingonGerman experience.Specificmeasuresincludereconstructingan“innovation-driven” trainingobjective,developingacuriculumsystemthatcombinesmodularcourseswitheal-projecttraining,shftingteachingmethods towardscapabilitydevelopment,andimplementingdiverseanddyamicasessmentsThegoalistocultivate“Tshapeddesigers”wo possessbothdeeptechnicalexpertiseandinovationabity,threbyfacilitingthtransfomationandupgradingofindustrldesign education in the new engineering context.
