Paraguay’ s Economic Dilemma and Its Relations with China

Abstract：AfterananalysisParaguay’smainstreammediacoverageChinaicialstatements，andrelateddocumentsoverthe pastthreyears，tispaperfidsthatitsproU.S.，pro-Taiwan“exceptioalist”foreignpolicyisnowfacingadualchallngefring publicopinionandgrowingdemandsforstrategicforesight.DespitecontinuedgrowthinParaguay-ChinatradeandChina’spositionas Paraguay’sleadingimportsource，thetradebariersstemmingfromtheabsencediplomaticrelationshaveprovokedwidespread discontentamongallocialsctos，partilalyintelectualsndtenralpublic.Thisisconenttrasnspurelyooicad reflectingastructuralconictbetweethepolicyandthenatio’sdevelopmentgoals.Recently，Paraguay’smainstreammediahave signaledanewtrend：leaningtowardabandoningelationswithChina’sTaiwanProvinceinfavorstablishingfoaldiplomaticelations with the People’s Republic China.
