Abstract:Asaspecialpartofreproductiveculture,thecustomofpostpartumconfinementisanimportantcomponentofsocialfolkways.Itoftenmanifestsinextealfos，ostdirectlyflectingthunderstandingofthoeopracticetecustomtowardshdbaring. PregnantwomeninPhetchaburi，Thailand，exhibitdistinctethniccharacteristicsinthetraditionalcustomofpostpartumconfinmnt, whichinvolvesomplexproceessuchsarefulpreparatioeforepostpartumonfiement，postpartuecovryforteotdrit alsrelatedto“fire，allofchareunquetoTiflkculure.Troughoutthentireprossofposparumcofiement,“fireplaysan indispensableoleandcarrsunqueculturalcootations.he“fire”notonlyfletthetraditionalunderstandingofthTipeoleof nurturinglife,butalsoembodies thesupernatural beliefsintheworshipofiredeityandtheprofoundfaithinBuddhism.
