Abstract:MartaCravenNusbaumisoneof themost influentialAmericanphilosophersofourtime.Asapublicintellctualatthe forefrontofglobaldevelopment,drawingonherowexperience,Nussaumcriizedtheshortcomingsofutilitarianducation,which servesthepurposeofconomicgrowth.Shesoughttorecostructtheconceptionofducationalpurpose,defiingitasthecultivationof “globalciens”andproposingth“CapabiliesAroach”thoryichomprisescriticaltinking,imagination,andempathyhe proposalfthe“balcitncoceptioofucatioalpuosestoddresstrsisofevelopntereutilitaransprevlsd humanisticeducatioisgtdAgaistthackdrooftratepracticaliianceoftisoceptioisfletdihfo lowing:calingonteacherstmpasizehumanisticducatioandfostersudents’sensefelonging;encouragingsudentstoleabout theirownculturestofosteculturalconfidene;andcultivatingstudents’abilittoviewissesfroaglobalperspectivetobuildacomu nity with a shared future for mankind.
