Abstract： Calendar plate New Year pictures are a special branch of Chinese New Year pictures and were a popular form of NewYearpicturesamong thecommonpeopleat thattime.Theyarecharacterizedbyprominentthemes，delicate techniquesand brightcolors.ThisNewYearpictureoriginatedfromthecombinationoftheNew Yearpicturesof Xiaoxiaochang in Shanghai duringthelateQing Dynastyandtheadvertising picturesofforeign tradingcompanies.Atfirst，it wasonlyasinglecolorora fewsimplecolorcombinations.DuringtheRepublicofChinaperiod，duetothepopularityoflithographicprinting，thecolors graduallybecamerich.Inthe192Osand1930s，itspreadthroughouturbanandruralareas.Thecolors wereelegantduringthe early periods of Zhou Muqiao，XuYongqing and Zheng Mantuo，and gradually became brighter duringthe peak periodof Hang Zhiying.After thefounding of thePeople'sRepublicofChina，it wasrenovated.To promotesocialistconstruction，theNew Year pictures became richand colorful in terms of techniques and colors.A painting genre that was once so popularis nowhard tofind，whichcan'thelpbut makepeoplesighThisarticleatempts toexplorethecausesofeachkeynodeinthedevelopment processofcalendarsignsand New Yearpicturesand the inspirations theybring topeople today.'dliketoshare myhumble opinions with everyone for discussion.
