Abstract:TheCaterpillrG3412generatorisatypeofdieselgenerator.Asanimportantpartoftheship'spowerstation,it isthepowersourceformostoftheship'selectricalequipmentexceptforconnectingshorepowertotheport.Thereliable, continuousandeficientoperationofgeneratorsplaysanimportantroleinthesafeoperationofships.Becausetheworking environmentofgeneratorsischaracterizedbyhumidity,frequentvibrationefects,andlargeoilpolution,theagingproblemof generatorsismoreprominentthanthatofonshoreequipment.Whenashipencounterspowergenerationequipmentfailureduring sailing,itwillpseateattoheshipsnavigationsafetyDuetothelimitationsoffsoremaintenanc,itisveryimporantto relyontheworkingstatusofthegeneratorreasonablycheckthepotentialsafetyhazardsofthegenerator,improvetheprotection measuresofthegenerator,ensurethereliableoperationofthegenerator,andextendtheservicetimeoftheequipment.Basedon theworkingprincipleofgeneratorsandusingvariousrelatedcasesasreference,thispaperunderstandsthecurrentprotection measuresandsomecommon faultsof CaterpillrG3412 generatorsonships.Thispaperanalyzestheactual operatingstatusof generatorsonmostcivilandcommercialships,aswellasthemodulesthatofenoccur inproblems,andsummarizesand clasifies hefaultphenomenonprotectionmeasuresandbusprotectiondesign.Itisconvenientforpersonelengagedinturbine workinthefuturetoimprovetheefciencyofsolvingmarinegeneratorfaultproblemsandreducesecondarydamageto generators caused by faults.
