Comparative Study of Zong Baihua's Calligraphy Aesthetics and the Holistic Perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract:This paper employsaninterdisciplinarycomparativeapproach toexplore Zong Baihua’saesthetictheoryofcallgraphy andtheholisticviewof traditionalChinesemedicine(TCM).Itrevealstheirsharedphilosophicalfoundations withintraditioalChinesecultureandhighlightstheircontemporaryrelevance.Thestudyfocusesontheinterconnectionsanddistinctionsbetweentheir philosophicalbases,practicalpathays,ndrecocepts:Zongaia’sallgaphcstetics,oedinofucianis,ism andDaoism,pursuesartisticharmonybetwenhumanityandnature (tianenheyi)trough"metaphsicalbeauty"(xingshangmei)and "artisticconception"(yijing),emphasizingthetranscendenceofsujectivespirit.TheTCMholisticviewutilizingteYinYagand FivePhasesteoryasitskeyframework,emphasiestheconeptof"theunityofheavenandhumanity"(tianenheyi),prioriigthe applicationofojectivenaturallaws.Whiletheirpathwaysdifer—thformerbeingartisticappreciationandthelatermedicalpractice—theyshareafundamentalcore:caligraphymirrorstherhythmof thecosmosthroughthedynamicinterplayofvoidand substance(xushixiangseng)initslinearyts,hileTCMresoateswithnaturalpatestroughitstheorisofqi(vitalergand bloodcirculation.Thisinterdisciplinarycomparisondeepensthetheoreticalframeworkforthemoderntransformationoftraditional culture,underscoesitsuquesignificanceinfosteinguluralidentityadfacilitatinginteatioalommunicaioniinglobalized context,and provides a novel paradigm for dialogue between art and science.
