The Developmental Trajectory of Dong Timber Architecture Carpentry Techniques in Sanjiang Dong Ethnic Area: A Study from the Perspective of Oral History

Abstract:Dongtimberarchitecturecraftsmanshipisatraditionalconstruction techniquedistributedintheDong ethnicenclaves spanning thetri-junctionof Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region,Hunan Province,andGuizhouProvince.Through fieldinvestigationsandinterviewswithrepresentativeinheritorsandmastercaftsmenofDongtimberarchitectureinSanjiang,thisstudytraceste germination,rise,andevolutionofthesetechniques.Thedevelopmentiscategorizedintofourdistinctphases:GerminationPeriod (LateMing toEarlyQing Dynasty);ProsperityPeriod(Qing Dyastyto1949Era); TroubledPeriod(196Os-197Os);RevivalPeriod (Post-ReformandOpening-Up).Bydelineating its historical trajectory，thisresearchnotonlyenriches academicdiscourseonDong architectural craftsmanshipbut alsoprovides a practical reference for theliving inheritanceofthese techniques in Sanjiang.
