The Semi-Open Independent Space Expression in Yaji Diagrams of Song Dynasty

-A Case Study of Huichang Jiulao Tu

Abstract：Theshemataof ancient Chinese literati gatheringscanbebroadlycategorized intotwofunctional types：practicaland narative.Thelateucdbyprtaialtetsmosateingaialisiodxprieaesiictal composition.Thisstudyanalyzesthesemi-open independentspatialformsof Huichang JiulaoTu（TheNineElders‘Gatheringat Huichang）bycombiningdiscussionsofdiferntliteratigateringscematasspatialexpressonswithtehistoricalcontetandthe materialelementsdepictedinthepainting.Throughcomparativeanalysiswithotherworks themedaroundtheNineElders‘Gathering， thispaperobservesthesharedspatialcharacterisicsofitsschemata.Image-basedresearchconcludesthatmanyelementsin Huichang Jiulao Tu havetranscended their original Tang Dynasty context，reflecting the life experience and creative intentionsof SongDynastypainters.Notably，thespatialconfigurationofJiulaopaintingsconsistentlymaintainsasemiopenindependentform， evolvingfrom"Huichang"to"Xiangshan"（IncenseMountain）.Bydiscussingthetopicfromthecompositionalspatialstructure，this study aims to offer new perspectives on the spatial representation of literati gathering schemata of Song Dynasty.
