Abstract: Objective: To analyze the application of standardized mismatch repair (MMR) detection procedure in patients with gastric cancer and its potential impact on patient prognosis. Methods: 70 patients with gastric cancer admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Gansu Medical College from January 2019 to January 2022 were selected as the study objects. All patients underwent standardized MMR immunohistochemical testing and were divided into the MMR deficient (dMMR) group and the MMR stable (MSI-L/MSS) group based on test results. Results: dMMR patients accounted for 20% of the total (n=14) ) and MMR stable (MSI-L/MSS) patients accounted for 80% n=56 ). The median follow-up time was 18 months. The age distribution of patients in the dMMR group was younger, and the degree of tumor differentiation in the dMMR group was lower (P<0.05) . PFS analysis showed that the median progression-free survival in the dMMR group was significantly longer than that in the MMR stable group (P<0.01) ). OS analysis also showed that overall survival in the dMMR group was better than that in the MMR stable group (P<0.01) ). Conclusion: The use of standardized MMR detection procedures can help to identify the subgroup of gastric cancer patients with a better prognosis, suggesting that MMR status may be one of the important biomarkers to guide individualized treatment.
