Abstract：Inorder toreduceelevatoraccidentscaused bycounterweightreversesheave failure.Theworkingprinciple， materialandstructureoftheelevatorcounterweightreversesheaveareanalyzed.Understandthechangeprocessoftheinspection requirementsforelevatorcounterweightsheaveintheoldandnewversionsoftheinspectionregulations.Severalfailureformsof counterweightreverseropepuleys，suchaswearofropegrooves，damageof bearings，looseorbrokenconnecting structures， mising orimproperlysetprotectivedevicesforrotatingparts，wereaalyzed.Opinionsandsugestionsntheinspectionof heavy reverseropepullysunderdiferentfailurefomsareputforward.Itsummarizesanumberofefectivepreventivemeasuressuch asreasonabledesignandselectionbymanufacturersandimprovementofmanufacturingquality，standardizedoperationby instalationunits，strengtheningmaintenanceunitsandstrengtheningdailycontrol，weklyinspectionandmonthlyshedulingby userunits.Inthiswaythesafetyhazardsofthecounterweightreversesheaveareeliminated，theoperatingstabiltyofthe counterweight reverse sheave is improved，and the safety of elevator operation isensured.
