Breeding of a new cucumber cultivar Tangqiuza No.10

Abstract：TangqiuzaNo.10 isafirst-generation hybrid.Both femaleparent（（H15）and male parent（L127）were the inbredlines previously selected byourresearch group.When thiscultivar is planted in spring andautumn greenhouses in Tangshanarea，itswhole growth period isabout140days，whileit isabout11O days inopen field.Theplants are vine-growingwith moderategrowthvigor.Thefirstfemaleflowerappearsatthe 6thto8th nodesofthemainvine，and female flowers grow at each node.The numberof cucumbers per plantcanreach 15-2O.Both the main and lateral vines canbear cucumbers.The cucumbers are ina club shape， 18-20cm in length， 3.0-3.5cm intransverse diameter，with flesh thickness of more than 1cm ，and theaveragemassof single cucumber isabout 180g ，the soluble solids content in its central part is 4.5% ，and the vitamin C content is 0.2mg⋅g-1 .The fruit spines are white，the spine tumors are large andsparselydistributed.Thecucumberskin is emerald greenincolor，the flesh iscrisp，andthecucumber hasadelicate fragrance.Tangqiuza No.10has high diseaseresistance，especiallto powderymildewand downy mildew.Itissuitable for planting in open field and protected field in Hebei province.
