Abstract:To enrich the melongermplasm resources in China,60 thick-skinned melon accessions were introduced from theMiddleEast-CentralAsiaregion.Ninetenphenotypic traits were investigated,andcomprehensiveevaluationwas conducted using analytical methods such as baisc statistics,corelation analysis,principal component analysis(PCA),and clusteranalysis.Theresults showed that thecoefficient of variation for the19 phenotypic traitsranged from 4.32% to (204号 54.98% ,with the largest coefficient of variation observed in fruit umbilicus 54.98% ,and the highest genetic diversity index foundinyield(2.25).H9-5,H9-40,andH9-37exhibitedstronggrowthvigor;H9-25,H9-13,andH9-15hdlarger fruitumbilici; H9-17exhibited greatersinglefruit mass,H9-10andH9-13hadthickerpericarp,andH9-50had thicker mesocarp.Yieldand growthperiodare influenced bymultiple factors,andcorrelationanalysis indicated thatthese two traits hadthe mostcomplexrelationships with other traits.Principalcomponent analysis simplified the19 traits into eight principal components, with a cumulative contribution rate of 86.044% ,named as growth vigor factor,morphology factor, yield factor,quality factor,and maturity factor. Cluster analysis clasifiedthe 6O germplasmresources into five groups, withsignificantdiferencesobservedamong the groupsintermsofyield potential,growthvigor,andmaturity.The top five thick-skinnedmelonsbasedoncomprehensiveevaluation wereH9-17,H9-26,H9-15,H9-29andH9-30.These findings demonstrate that the introduced germplasmresources fromthe MiddleEast-Central Asia region possess rich genetic diversity,holding significant value forbroadening the genetic basis of melon breeding breeding in China.
