A Brief Biography of Medical Practitioners in Xiaogan, Hubei Province During the Ming and Qing Dynasties

Abstract:Thisstudyaimstodelveintoandinterpretthebiographicalanecdotesandscholarlyacomplishmentsofthemedical communityintheXiaoganregionduringtheMingandQingdynasties,discussngtheirstatusandroleinthedevelopmentofmedical culture.Theresearch focusesonthemedicalrecordsdocumentedinlocalannalssuchastheXiaogan CountyAnnals，Hanchuan CountyAnnalsandAnlu CountyAnnals,systematicallysortingoutandverfingthesematerials toreconsuctthehistoricalageof the medicalgroupduring thatperiod.Thestudyemploysacombinationof iteraryexegesisandfieldinvestigation,deeplyintepreting thelocalannalsandsupplementedbyonsitevisitstoensuretheauacyandcompletenessoftheresearchmaterials.Thefindings indicatetatthemedicalprofessionalsintheXiaoganregionduringtheMingandQingdynastiesnotonlypossesedprofssional medicalknowledgebutalsoexhibitedthequalitisofaliteraryscholarandaparagonoffilialpiety.Theirmedicalworkswerecharacterizedbylocalfeaturesandcontributedtotheconstructionofasystematic traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)knowledge spectrum. TheachievementsoftheXiaoganmedicalcommunityprovideempiricalevidenceforthestudyofregionalmedicaldevelopmetand areofsignificantacademicvalueandenlighteningsignificaneforunderstandingtheinheritanceanddevelopmentofTCMculture.
