Abstract：MT-2 buffer is the main type of buffer used for railway freight in China.In recent years，this product has presented failures such as broken return spring and insuficient free height. The article analyzes the causes for the fractures of the first，the second and the third coils of the return spring and gives the improvement suggestion according to the causes.

缓冲器是铁道机车车辆的重要部件之一，其具有减缓及耗散列车在运行中由于机车牵引力的变化或在起动、制动及调车作业时车辆相互碰撞时引起的纵向冲击和振动的功能，从而减轻对车体结构和装载货物的破坏作用，以提高列车运行的平稳性和安全性。（剩余3257字）
