Abstract: In response to the unexpected emergency failure of freight trains in China,this paper proposes that the stability margin of 12O valves should be improved.Based on the change in exhaust capacity of locomotive brakes,this paper analyzes the change in the requirements of stability and emergency sensitivity of control valves in China's single-vehicle test standards and the evolution of AAR single-vehicle test methods.It is found that improving the stability of the control valve is an effective measure to prevent accidental emergencies. The change of single valve test standard of 12O valve is analyzed,and based on the emergency exhaust capacityof locomotives and the correlation requirements of single-valve test and single-vehicle test standards,a test standard scheme to improve the stability marginof 12O valves is put forward.The test results show that after improving the stability of 12O valves,the emergency braking wave speed is about 245~255m/s ,and it can reach 280~290m/s by further improving the service braking wave speed,which shows that the scheme of improving the stability of 12O valves is feasible.
