Abstract：Abstract：AsalevelcharacterinMandarin，“Yuan（缘）”isahigh-frequency，multifunctional word.Originalyderived fromthecomponent“系”（silkthread），itsearliest meaning wasrelatedtospiingand weaving.Overtime，themeaninghas expandedtorelationshipsandconections，ndbeenfurtherenrichedafterBudismwasintroducedtoChina.Asanimportantcultaly loadedterm，temeaningof“缘"hasbecomeevenmorediverseforultipleinterpretationsinliterature，hichreflectsitsrichcoo tationandprofoundsignificance.Tracingfromtheetymologicalhistoryof“缘”，thispaperanalyzesitssemanticmeanings，cultural projectionsandaimstoexaminethediferentmeaningsof“缘”andthecorespondingtransationatvarioushistoricalstagesadwit inculturalcontexts.Tiswaythepaperrevealstherichhistoricalandculturalcontextbehindthesimplecharacter“缘"andhemultiple coodinated translation techniques，therefore providing areferenceforthe translation of culturall-loaded terms.
