Conceptual Motivation of Elements and Analogical Naming： The Semiotic Realization and Meaning Relations of the Chinese “Sheng”[Province]//WANG Yuhang

Abstract：Thecurrntadmiistrative“province"originatesfromthe“threeprovinces”oftheancient“threeprovincesandsixdepartments”，whilethe“province"of the“threeprovinces”isbelieved tooriginatefromthe“province"thatwaschangedfromthe“省中” of the palace tothe“省中”due totaboo.Itcanbeseen fromcurentinvestigationthatthe palace'suseof“省中”isnotatabooand hasbeenchanged，andthe“province”of“省中"andthe“province"of“threeprovinces"arenotsuitableforextending theirmeanings to explain.The“province”of“省中”and“three provinces”is teresultoflinguisticsymbolizationformedunderthesameconceptual elements.Thecurrnt“province”of administrationisageneralizationof theuseofthe“province”ofthe“threeprovinces”.
