Abstract：Inordertostudythesealingabilityoffaultstocoalseamgasanddeeplyunderstandtherelationshipbetween faultsandcoal seamgasstorage，onthe basisofsummarizing the faultsealing mechanismproposedbypredecesors，a quantitativeevaluationmethodoffaultsealingabilityisproposedfromtheperspectivesofinteralstructureoffaultzoneand stressstateof section.Basedonengineering examples，theinfluenceoffaultsealingabilityongasocurrenceincoalmining faceisanalyzed.Theresearchshowsthatthefaultsealinghasacontrollingefectonthestorageandmigrationofcoal seam gas.Thegasemissonincreasedsignificantlyduringtheroadwayexcavationthroughtheclosedfault，andthegasemissionduring theopenfaultwassignificantlylowerthanthenormallevel.Thestudyoffaultsealingcapacityisofgreatsignificancefordeply understandingtheoccurenceandmigrationlawsofcoal seamgasandrefinedgasmanagementinfaultareas，andreducing the frequency of gas dynamic disasters.
