Screening of new tomato promising varieties in Huzhou area based on multivariatestatistical analysis

Abstract:To clarifythe diferences among 22 new tomato varieties recommended bytheAgricultural Extension Center ofZhejiangprovincefortrialplanting,nineindicatorsweremeasured,combiningclusteranalysis,correlationanalysis, principal component analysis and stepwise regression analysis.The results showed significant diferences among the 22 varietiesacross various indicators,withvariation indexranging from 5.91% to 189.30% ,theproportionof deformed fruits exhibited the highest degreeof dispersion.Corelation analysis revealed that thesoluble solids content andthe numberof fruitsperclustershowedhighlysignificantpositivecorrelation,whileboth thenumberoffruitsperclusterandthesoluble solids content showed highly significant negativecorrelation with the single fruit massThreeprincipal components were extracted from nine indicators,the variance contribution rates are 42.444% , 21.552% ,and 14.025% ,respectively. The loadingcoeficientmatrix was used to identifyindicatorscoveredbyeach principalcomponent,andacomprehensiveevaluation function was established torank the varieties basedoncomposite scores.Thesmall-fruited tomato variety Hangza 504 and the medium-to-large-fruited variety S21289-1ranked first.Stepwiseregressonanalysis identifiedseven indicators thatsignificantlyinfluenced tomatoqualityevaluation.Through clusteranalysis,thesmall-fruited tomatovarieties andthe medium-to-large-fruited tomato varieties werecategorized into three distinct groups basedonshared characteristicsrespectivily:Exhibition-type tomato,productivity-enhancing tomatoandculinary-purpose tomato.According tothe comprehensive evaluation,thesmal-fruited varieties Hangza 504,Hangza 515,and Ouxiu Huangying,themedium-to-large-fruited varieties S21289-1, ZheweiNo.2and Jiahong100 were demonstrated optimal performance.
