Effects of bactericide No.1 treated with different durations on seed germinationof watermelon and melon

Abstract： Bacterial fruit blotch（BFB）is a seed-borne disease harmful to theproduction of watermelon and melon，with seddisinfectionbeing theprimarycontrolmeasure.Toevaluatetheeffectsofdiferentstoragedurationsaftertreatment with Bactericide No.1on the germinationof watermelon and melonseeds，this studyused the petri dish method to measurethegerminationrateandshootlengthofwatermelonseedIVF-01，melonseedsIVF88andIVF-NLLtreatedwiththe Bactericidefor diferent storage times.Theresults showed thatthe treatment with Bactericide No.1had no significant negativeeffectonthegerminationrateandoverallbudlengthofIVF-1，IVF88，andIVF-NLLseedsstoredfordifrent times.Except forafew specific storage time points（such asadecrease in bud length after1，7，90daysofstoreage for IVF-01，inhibitionofbudlengthafter1dayofstorageforIVF-NLL，andadecreasein germinationrateafter1dayofstorageforIVF-01），thetreatmentefectwascomparable tothatofthewatercontrol.Itwas worthnotingthatamultiplestoragetimepoints（such as thegerminationrateofIVF-01storedfor7，90days，thegerminationrateofIVF88/IVF-NLL stored for 90days，the bud lengthofIVf-01 stored for15，30days，and the bud lengthofIVF-NLLstored for30，180 days），diffrent degreesof improvement ingerminationor growth indicators wereobserved compared tothecontrol. Therefore，BactericideNo.1hasalow potentialrisk toseed vitalityandmay evenhaveapositive effectinpreventing and treating bacterial fruit spot disease，providing scientific support for its safe application.
