Analysing of metabolic differences in the sarcocarp of six melon varieties based on non-target metabolomics

Abstract:Toinvestigatethemetabolicdifferencesamongdifferent melonvarieties,thisstudyutilizedliquidchromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS)and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) to analyze the metabolites in the sarcocarpofsixmelonvarieties(combinations).Theresultsshowedthatatotalof756metabolitesweredetected,including251lipidsandlipid-like molecules,110organoheterocycliccompounds,99organicacidsandderivatives,90organic oxygencompounds,66phenylpropanoidsand polyketides,and 56benzenoids.Diferentialand clusteranalysis revealed that Xizhoumi 25,Dumi 5and 20M7 were clustered into one group,while T5,T6,and T7clustered into another group. Metabolicpathwayenrichmentanalysis indicatedthatthedifferentiallyexpressedmetabolites wereprimarilyenriched intoaminoacid metabolism,nucleotide metabolism,andsugar metabolism.This studyelucidated thedifferentialmetabolitesand metabolic pathways inthesarcocarpofsix melon varieties(combinations),which provides datareference for the improvement of melon germplasm resources and research on quality related metabolic pathways.
