Impacts of lightning weather on maize cultivation and lightning protection measures in Xing'an League

AbstractThis paper analyzed the impacts of lightning disasters on maizecultivation in Xing'an League，Inner Mongolia，and proposed targeted lightning protection measures.Theresults showedthatdirect lightningstrikes onmaize plants cause direct physical injuries （leaf burn，stem breakage，etc.）and physiological damage （cellmembrane damage， hormone imbalance）.Inadition，Lightning and heavy precipitationaccompanied bylightning maydestroysoilstructure， indirectlychange soilconditions inthefield，provideaccessforpestsanddiseases，nddamageagriculturalfacilitiessuch as water pumps，pipelines and transformers.On this basis，specific lightning protection measures were proposed： establishing an advanced monitoring systemand improving the early warning and release mechanism to enhance lightning monitoring and early warning capability;carying out publicity and education activities and professional training to strengthenthepopularizationof lightning protection knowledge;scientificallyselecting plantingareasandreasonably adjusting planting densitytooptimize maize plantingdistribution; providing plantsupportand fixation，strengthening pest control and field management; installng lightning aresters andgrounding systems toimprove farmland lightning protection facilities.This paper provides a reference for lightning disaster reduction in maize cultivation.
