Abstract: [Purposes] This study investigates the impact of land use change on carbon storage in Xi'an City,aiming to provide references for formulating land use strategies and optimizing the ecological environment.[Methods]Based on the land use data of Xi'an City,the CA-Markov and InVESTmodels were used to explore the response of carbon storage to dynamic land use changes from 2OOO to 2O25.[Findings] The spatial distribution of carbon storage in Xi'an City generally exhibited a patern of "low in the northeast and high in the southwest".From 2OoO to 2O2O,construction land continuously expanded, while cultivated land showed a contracting trend.The primary land use transition was the conversion of cultivated land to construction land,leading toa decreasing trend in carbonstorage.Itis projected that carbon storage willfurther decrease by 2.47×106t by 2O25.[Conclusions] The reduction of cultivated land and grassand,coupled with the rapid expansion of construction land,has significant negative effects on regional carbon storage in Xi'an City.It is recommended to incorporate carbon storage as an important evaluation indicator in teritorial spatial planning and to promote the multi-objective synergistic optimization of carbon sink function and ecological service efficiency.
