Abstract: [Purposes] The bearing stratum has a significant impact on the bearing capacity of rocksocketed cast-in-place piles,making it necessary to study the characteristics of the pile end bearing stratum.[Methods] Taking a national highway project as an example,and using multiple detection methods for mutual verification,this study analyzes the issue of the reflection wave being in phase with the incident wave atthe end of a rock-socketed pile when tested bythe low strain reflection wave method.It also analyzes the elastic wave shape and amplitude,and the influence of factors such as the integrity of the bearing stratum,sediment thickness,the ratio of pile concrete strength to bearing stratum strength,early entry into rock,or pile shaft expansion on the detection results.The comprehensive interpretation of low strain reflection curves using in-hole imaging and core drilling methods is also introduced.[Findings]When testing rock-socketed cast-in-place piles with the low strain reflection wave method,the appearance of an in-phase reflection signal at the pileend can be influenced by factors such as poor integrity of the bearing stratum,a high ratio of pile concrete strength to bearing stratum strength,early entry into rock,and pile shaft expansion, which can lead to misjudgment.[Conclusions] Based on the principle of the low strain reflection wave method and through practical engineering cases,this article explains the influence of several engineering factors on the test results,shares insights often overlooked in testing work, helps reduce misjudgment, and provides a reference for similar engineering projects.
