Abstract:[Purposes]To address the problem of 500kV smart substation automationsystem faultsaffecting power grid safety operation,this study aims to design an effective fault tolerance mechanism to enhance system reliability and fault tolerance capability.[Methods]A multi-level fault tolerancearchitecture including hardware redundancy,software fault tolerance,and communication network fault tolerance was constructed. Key technologies such as fault detection and diagnosis,fault isolation and recovery,and system reconfiguration and switching were studied.A complete fault tolerance performance evaluation system was established and verified through a simulation platform based on RTDS.[Findings] The proposed fault tolerance mechanism can effectively improve the system availability factor to over 99.9% , shorten fault recovery time to minute level,achieve fault detection rate above 98% ,and switching time less than 5 seconds.[Conclusions] The fault tolerance mechanism significantly improves the operational reliabilityof 500kV smart substations,provides important technical guarantee for safe and stable power grid operation, and demonstrates good engineering application value.
