Abstract: [Purposes] This study aims to explore the application efects of advanced process control (APC) technology in key units of the petrochemical industry,focusing on raw material pretreatment units and continuous reforming units.It addresses the challenges of fine control and operating limit optimization that are difficult to achieve through manual operation, with the goal of improving product quality, unit stability,and energy efciency.[Methods]Byadopting APC technology,combined with multivariable predictive control,real-time optimization (RTO),and process mechanism models,the units were intelligently upgraded. Process parameters were adjusted through dynamic modeling, variable coupling analysis,and closed-loop control strategies.Automated control was achieved through the collaboration of the DCS system and APC software. [Findings]APC technology significantly improved key indicators: product yield increased by 1.5%~3.0% ,product quality stability reached over 99 % ,unit fluctuation amplitude decreased by 60% , and energy consumption was reduced by 2%-5% . Simultaneously, operating limit optimization enabled the maximization of operating parameter control,prolonged unit operation cycles,and reduced manual intervention. [Conclusions] APC technology can effectively replace manual operation,achieving long-term safe and stable operation of refining and chemical units and maximizing economic benefits.Future work should focus on further research into the deep integration of APC and artificial intelligence (AI) for adaptive optimization under complex operating conditions,and its promotion to the field of plant-wide collaborative control in refining and chemical processes.
