Abstract: [Purposes] This study investigates a site contaminated by the dumping of industrial waste residues and waste liquids,aiming to determine the extent and depth ofcontamination and provide a basis for subsequent site remediation.[Methods] Using the high-density resistivity method as the primary means,and leveraging diffrences in resistivity combined with data from drilling and sample analysis, the contaminated area of the site was delineated,and two key contaminated zones were identified.[Findings] The results indicate that although suspected minor fractures exist at the site,they have not formed sepage channels. Consequently,the contaminants have not polluted the groundwater and are primarily retained within the superficial miscellaneous fill.[Conclusions] The assessment techniques and methods applied to this contaminated site can quickly and accurately identify the pollution status,serving as a demonstrative model for the evaluation of contaminated sites in Northwest China.
