Breeding of a new potato cultivar Qinyu No.34
YEMinghui’, ZHENGMin',PU Zhengbin’,WANG Xingxing² (1.Ankandi Abstract:Qinyu No.34 isanew medium-late-maturing potatovariety developed through sexual hybridization,with YS03-349 as the female parentand EmalingshuNo.5as the male parent.The growth period for this varietyis about 90 days,and the plants reach a height of approximately 63cm ,with a semi-upright to spreading growth habit.The stems are gren with purpleacents,the leaves aregreen,andtheflowercorollis white.Thestolons are short,andthe tubers areflat-round with yellow skin,white flesh,smooth skin,and shallow eyes.The average tuber mass is 58.04g with a commercial tuber rate of 84.9% and an average yield of 2 099.3kg per 667m2 .The tubers contain 18% dry matter content, 1.93g⋅100g-1 protein content, 12.64m⋅100g-1 vitamin C content, 0.47g⋅100g-1 reducing sugar content, and 14.5g⋅100g-1 starch content, making it suitable for fresh consumption. In laboratory inoculation tests, Qinyu No.34 showed resistance to viral diseasesand moderate resistance to late blight.
