Effects of nitrogen reduction combined with organic fertilizer on soil nutrients and yield of fennel seedling under sandy loam soil conditions

Abstract: Taking the fennel variety MinqinNo.2as the material,through field experiments,six treatments were setup, namely,no nitrogen fertilizer and organic fertilizer as the control(CK), 0% nitrogen reduction+organic fertilizer(CF), 100% nitrogen reduction+organic fertilizer(M), 25% nitrogen reduction+organic fertilizer(MF1), 50% nitrogen reduction+organic fertilizer(MF2),and 65% nitrogen reduction+organic fertilizer(MF3).To study the effects of nitrogen reductioncombinedwithorganicfertilizeraplicationonplanthight,iomas(freshmassnddrymass),yield,soilicro bial biomasscarbon/nitrogen contentand soil nutrients of fennel seedlings grownunder sandyloam soil conditions.The results showed thatunder theconditionofapplying equal amountoforganic fertilizer,theplant height,biomass,yield, soilmicrobial biomasscarbon/nitrogencontentandnutrientsoffenelseedlings showatrendoffirstincreasingand then decreasing withtheincreaseof nitrogenreduction.The yieldofMF2treatment was thehighest,which was significantly increased compared with CK,the increase wasnotsignificantcompared with the MFland MF3 treatments,butit was significant compared withother treatments.MF2 treatmentcould significantly increasethecarbonandnitrogen contentof soil microbial biomassinfennel seedlings,while CFtreatmentcould efectivelyimprove thecarbonand nitrogenratioof soil microbialbiomas.Comparedwith CK,MF2treatmentcouldsignificantlyincrease thecontentofsoilorganiccarbon, total nitrogen,totalphosphorus,availablephosphorus,availablenitrogenandandavailablepotassum.Basedontheyield offennel seedlings and various soil indicators,under the conditions of this experiment,reducing nitrogen by 50% combinedwith theapplicationoforganic fertilizeristheoptimalfertlizationtreatment,whichcanprovideascientific basis forsoil and fertilizermanagement in the arid area of central Ningxia.
