Screening of stages and indexes for cucumber wet-cold tolerance identification

Abstract:Toscreenthestagesandindexes forcucumberwet-coldtoleranceidentification,threestageseedlingsof3cultivars withdifferent wet-coldtolerance,andseedlingsat2leafstageof8diferentwet-coldtolerantcultivars weretreated in growth chamber under wet-cold (9∘C/5 ∘C/5∘C+RH95% ) condition taking 28∘C/18∘C+RH75% as the control. The growth and physiologic indexes of seedlings were colectedandtheir relative values were analyzed.Theresults showed thatwet-cold treatmentsignificantlyinhibitedthegrowthandphysiologicmetabolismofcucumberseedlings,and nduced antioxidant,osmoticregulationandenzyme protectionreactions.Underwet-coldstress,thegrowthandphysiologic indexesofseedlingsat2-leaf,3-leafand4-leafstagecouldbetterindicatethewet-coldtoleranceofthecultivars,butthe2-leaf stagewasbeterforearlyidentification.Basedonclusteranalysis,correlationanalysisandvariationanalysis,plantheight, fresh mass anddry massofseedlings were first recommended inmorphological indexes,followed bystemdiameterand lengthad widthofthefirsttrue leaf.Thecontentofproline,activityofcatalase,stomatalconductance,transpiratiorate, activityofperoxidase,contentof malonaldehydeandconcentrationofintercellarcarbon dioxide were first suggested in physiologicindexes,flowedbyontentofsuperoxideonfredical,electrontransportatetualqantumency non-photochemical quenching coefficient.
