The Embodied-Cognitive Nature of Metonymic Naming in Yunnan's Wild Edible Fungi Based on Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics

Abstract:The mushroom name,asalinguisticsymbolreferring towildedible mushrooms,isthestarting pointfor extealunderstandingofYunnan’swildediblemushroomculture,andalsothemental gatewayforunderstandingtheobjectivethingsof helocal peopleinYunnan.Thisarticleisbasedonthecoreprinciplesofembodiedlinguisticstostudytheembodiednatureof metaphorical namingof wildedible mushrooms in Yunnan.Itisfoundthat thenamingof wildediblemushroomsfolows theembodied pathof "realitycognitiolanguage",nditsexperientialnatureisainlyrefletedintoaspcts:"basedonexperntialexperinc"ad"incompletecorrespondencebetweenmushroomnamesinformandconcept".Cognitivenatureismainlyreflectedinthefactthat metaphoricalnamingisasubjectiveprocessthatcombinesthecognitivefactorsofthenamer.Mushroomnamesareanimporantpart ofYunnan's "ediblemushroomculture".Studyingthenaming conventionsof wildediblemushroomsinYunnanandthecognitive principles behind their names plays a crucial role in showcasing the unique charm of Yunnan's "edible mushroom culture".
