Abstract:Improving thegreen total factor productivityof grain is the keyto promoting green grain production.Based on the paneldata of 31 provinces in China,this study measures the grain gree totalfactor productivityusing the supereficient SBM model and the GML index. Subsequently,the kernel density estimation, σ convergence,and the absolute and conditional β (204号 convergence methods areused toanalyze the dynamic evolution andconvergence of the grain green total factor productivity among regions.The results show thatfrom2OoO to 2O21,China's grain green total factor productivity shows afluctuating upward trend,with a modest average annual growth rate of 0.38% ,driven primarily by green technological progress.Significant disparities exist in graingreen total factor productivitybetween provincesandregions.Thegrowth of greentotal factor productivityof grainin China and the thre major grain functional areas presents the folowing patern:main production area > national > balance area > main sales area. In addition,according to the diferences between provinces and regions,they are divided into high-speed,medium-highspeed,slow-speedanddeclininggroups;the growthof green totalfactor productivity inthethreemajorfoodfunctionalzonesandprovincialfoodregionsstilleliesonthe“single-wheeldrive”ofgreentechnological progress.During the studyperiod,thenational gren totalfactorproductivityof graincontinuedtorise,butregionaldisparities widenedaslesseficientregionsatemptedtocatchup.Theabsolutegapbetweenthemaingrain-producingregions inthethree majorgrain functionalregions isshrinking,whilethe main marketingregionand the production and marketing balanceregion aregradually expanding.There isnoobservablepolarisationbetweenthenationalandthethreemajorgrainfunctionalegions. The greentotalfactorproductivityof grain in Chinaandthethreemajorgrain functionalregions shows significantabsoluteand conditional β convergence,along with overall(though unstable) σ convergence.To enhance the green total factor productivity of grain,werecommendimplementingdiferentiatedsupportpoliciesforgreengrainproduction,promotingintegratedurbnral development,strengtheningagriculturalinfrastructureconstruction,andreinforcingtechnological supportforthe grainindustry.
