Abstract: Inresponse to the problems of poor field throughputof ginger harvestersand thelow eficiency on processes such as pulinggingersedlings,shakingsoilcutingseedlingsandcolectingduringthegingerharvesting,atrackedselfpropelled ginger harvesteris designed.Theparameters ofthe entire machinearedetermined byanalyzing the working environmentof gingerharvesting.Thekeycomponentsofthegingerharvestingdevicearedesigned toachievefullautomationoftheginger harvesting process.Avirtual prototype modelof thetrack isbuilt in RecurDyn toanalyze the workingconditionsoftheentire machinein straight line driving,turning driving,longitudinal climbing,andcrosing trenches.Finall,theprototype manufacturingandfield experimentsareconductedonthetrackedself-propeled gingerharvester.Theexperimentalresults show that the designed ginger harvester has a straight-line travel offset of 3.18% . The average turning radius on soft and hard road surfaces is 1705mm and 1805mm ,respectively. The maximum vertical climbing angle is 15∘ .The maximum width of the chassis crossing the trench is 1000mm . In the harvesting experiment,the ginger harvesting rate reached 98.33% ,the damage rate was 1.35% ,the ginger leakage rate was 0.32% ,and the harvesting efficiency reached (20 0.081hm2/h . It indicates that the ginger harvester has good passability and stability when operating in the field.
