A Study on the Trends in Residents’Happiness Under the Vision of Common Prosperity

Abstract:Based on the 2012-2022longitudinal data of the China Family Panel Sunvey (CFPS),this study investigated thetrends of Chinese Residents'Happiness over the past decade and conductedacomparative analysis of happiness disparities across the eastern，central,western，and northeastern regions.The findings revealed that，despite a slight decline in 2016,the overall happiness of Chinese residents has shown an upwardtrend.Interms of regional differences，residents inthenortheastern region reported thelowest lev els of happiness among the four major regions;however,since 2018,this region has experienced a significant upwardtrendinhappiness,surpassingthatoftheeastern,central,andwesternregions.Meanwhile,thewesternregion consistently exhibitedlowerlevels of happinesscompared to other regions.Theeastern andcentral regions demonstrated relativelyhigher and steadilyincreasinglevelsof happiness，withminimaldisparitiesbetween them.Byuncoveringthedynamictrends andregional variations inthe happiness of Chinese residents，this study provides robust support and scientific evidence for evaluating societal development outcomesand formulating policiesaimedat improving people‘slivelihoods,andisof great significance for realizing the vision of common prosperity.
