Research on Influencing Factors and Bridging Strategies of the Digital Divide Among the Elderly AnAnalysis Basedon the 2018 China FamilyPanel Studies （CFPS）

Abstract：Amidthegrowingdominanceofidigitallifestylesover traditional non-digitalones，theelderly face significant challenges due to physical limitations，forcing them to navigate the inconveniences imposed bydigital transformation.This study utilizes data fromthe2018 China Family Panel Studies（CFPS）to investigatethefactorsinfluencingthedigitaldivideamongolderadults，framed throughthelensof three dimensions：access gap，usage gap，and knowledge gap.The findings confirmthe existence of a pronounced digital dividein this population.Key determinants includeincome and residential location （contributing totheaccess gap），age and gender（affecting theusagegap），and attitudes toward technologyand frequency ofintergenerationalcommunication（shapingtheknowledgegap）.Building on these insights，the study proposes four strategies to bridge thedivide：establishinga top-level institutional framework for elderly digitalinclusion，enhancingdigitalinfrastructureaccessibilityforolder adults，improvingdigital literacyand skill-building programs，and fosteringan age-friendlydigitalecosystemtailoredtothe needsof theelderly.
