Abstract：The“productive forces-production relations”framework inpolitical economy represents a wellknown dialectical contradiction.This article takes thisasa theoretical basis todeeplyanalyze Shenzhen as a practical sampleof China’smega city renewal.The essence of urbanrenewalis thetransformationof production relations brought about by the development of productive forces.Shenzhen promotes the active adjustment of production relations through the efficient composite development and utilization of land space through new qualityproductivity.This articleliststwo local cases in Nantou Ancient City and Shenye Uptown Hills in Shenzhen，to support the diversityof Shenzhen’s practices，and verify how the adjustment of production relations can unleashthe potential of productivity，and reveal universal implications for the renewal of mega cities.The experienceof Shenzhen shows thaturbanrenewal is one of the key paths for high-quality development.
