Design of Wide Stopband Bandpass Filter Based on Stubs and Spur Lines

Abstract: This paper presents a microstrip bandpass filter with high frequency selectivity and wide stopband characteristics.The filter is composed oftwo half-wavelength microstripresonators,adopting tapped coupling to introduce a zero-feeding scheme,generating two transmission zerosonboth sidesofthe passbandtoenhance frequencyselectivity.To improve stopband performance,two quarter-wavelength open-circuited stubs are loaded on the 50Ω feed lines to suppress harmonicsbyintroducing transmissionzeros.Additionall,spur linesareutilizedtofurthersuppresspurious pasbandswhile maintaininggoodpassbandperformance.Bycombiningthese two structures,the stopband performanceissignificantlyenhanced. A bandpass filter with a center frequency of 1.75GHz and a relative bandwidth of 5.0% is designed.A prototype is fabricated, and experimentalresults demonstrate that the2OdB stopbandrejectionlevel reaches up toseven timesthecenter frequency. Good agreement between simulated and measured performance is observed.
