Abstract:Expansivesoils(fisuredclays)areprone tocause engineering diseasessuchassubgrade deformationandslope instabilityduetotheircharacteristicsofdryingshrinkageandwetexpansion.ThecurrentGB5O112-2013TechnicalCodefor ConstructioninExpansiveSoilRegionsinChinamainlyfocusesonbuildingfoundationsanddoesnotfullycoverthespecial requirementsofrailwayengineering.Basedonrailwayengineering practices,thispaperproposesaclasificationsystemfor expansive soils with the residual internal friction angle (φr) ,free swelling ratio (Fs) ,shear strength attenuation coefficient ( α=(φf -φr)/φr) ,and unconfined compressive strength (qu) as the core indicators.In combination with the field geological characteristics (suchasfissuredevelopmentdisintegrationetc.),atwostagedisciminationprocessofpreliinaryjudgment(qualitiveand detailedjudgment(quantitative)isestablishedThrouhthedataanalysisof1typicalrailayconstructionsites,itisverfidthat thisclasificationmethodcansignificantlyimprovetheevaluationacuracyofsubgradeslopestabilityandreducetheproject rework rate by more than 30%
